The tool backups the:

•Metadata Server.

•SAS Content Server.

•data directories, SAS environment directories and server configuration directories on the SAS Server tier.

•SAS Web Infrastructure Platform Data Server .

Special Note: The Content such as data and SAS code stored outside the SAS configuration directory is not backed up.

The Deployment Backup and Recovery tool includes a variety of batch commands which you can use to do the following:

•Execute an ad-hoc backup

•Customize backups to specify:

•A Schedule

•A Backup Location

•Display information about the backup configuration

•Perform a full or partial recovery.

HOW it works?

The SAS tools run on the middle-tier machine. When a backup is requested or scheduled it:

•Queries the metadata for what needs to be backed up.

•Connects to the deployment agent on the each machine in the architecture.

•The agent runs the backup on the machine to backup the content to the configured location.

•Optionally, if a central location is defined, the backups from each machine are copied to the central location following each backup operation. A central location to

store the backup (a vault) accessible to each machine is recommended.
